Avoid Constant Screen Time with the Below Tips!
With the warm weather upon us, we can begin to explore the outdoors with the kiddos! Keeping children entertained all day is a job in itself, but through providing routine, structure, and engaging activities, you will create an organized environment. If you’ve ran out of activities at this point, check out the suggestions below!
Physical Activities: Kids have boundless energy that needs to be released. Some positive ways to let your child get their energy out include:
- Family Hikes
- Roller-Blading
- Bike Rides
- Scavenger Hunts
- Outdoor Painting
- Picnic Lunch
These will help your child’s mental and physical health and will allow them to focus better on the tasks at hand later. The outdoor stimulation will create an interest within your child that promotes learning and a connection with nature. It will also help the interior of your home to stay mess-free!
Indoor/Educational Activities: Although you’ve probably exhausted all aspects relating to indoor learning at this point, below are several creative activities that may be fun to try out:
- Conducting scientific experiments (making a volcano, orange fizz, homemade play dough, etc.)
- Cooking together to encourage healthy eating habits
- Family game nights
- Puzzles and word games
- Write letters to loved ones and mail them
In order to keep children engaged, and avoid hours of screen time, the above activities are a great start. A lot of them can be achieved inexpensively as well. Help your child come out of this quarantine stronger and sharper than before, and embrace the family time as much as possible. When schools open up again, be sure to contact the Wee-Folk Child Care Center and inquire about their daycare and after school programs!
